2.3 Video timing reference codes (SAV and EAV)  There are two timing reference codes, one at the beginning of each video data block (start of active video, SAV) and the other at the end of each video data block (end of active video, EAV). These codes are contiguous with the video data, and continue during the field/frame blanking interval, as shown in Fig. 1.
